I just wanted to say thank you very much for being so patient in the early days. I was really nervous and you supported me through those initial shaky moments!

You have been constantly friendly and happy during every driving lesson to the very last one and I felt you were genuinely pleased for me when I passed. I would have no doubt in recommending Drive Sussex to my friends!

How does it work?
The Test is in three parts and you must pass each one before progressing to the next.

  • Part 1 is the theory and hazard perception test. The theory comprises of 100 multiple choice questions covering all aspects of driving which have been divided into 4 groups each covering an area of the test. The overall pass mark is 85% with a minimum of 80% in each of the groups. To achieve this you must score at least 20 in each section. You then take the hazard perception test which are the video clips. Although you may take the theory test as many times as you need to pass it, once you have passed it the clock starts ticking. You will now have 2 years to complete the practical drive Part 2, and the test of instruction Part 3.

You only have 3 attempts at both Part 2 and Part 3 to pass, should you fail on the third attempt then you have to leave the process, wait and reapply. You will then have to sit the Part 1 again.

  • Part 2 is a test of your ability to drive to a high standard, and lasts for one hour.

  • Part 3 tests you in two teaching situations, a new driver and one that is about to take their test. This test also lasts for one hour, but is split into two half-hour sessions.
